Bangkok Attractions – Places to go for a relaxing holiday

The words relaxing + Bangkok may not match for many people. Given the sheer size of the city, everyone seems to be busy 24/7 in addition to the notorious traffic that never seems to get better. Although finding a quiet place in The City of Angels is not easy, it surprisingly offers numerous spots that let you unwind and relax.

Rest your head the right way

Finding the right hotel can be daunting, especially in a city that never sleeps. It’s out of question that you need a tranquil place which inspires and soothes your mind.

AriyasomVilla

Start your relaxing holiday in Bangkok straight away with a stay at one of the boutique hotels the city has to offer – the AriyasomVilla. This luxury hotel is designed around the theme of 1940’s and 1950’s Bangkok and focuses on peace and tranquility. One might be surprised that this hotel is situated in the middle of Bangkok, given that it’s surrounded by lush greeneries but it’s things like that which make this city so unique.

Get pampered at a spa

Thailand is worldwide renowned for its fabulous spas and highly skilled massage therapists. It’s almost a must to get a massage when in Bangkok, but especially when you aim to just relax.

Divana Massage & Spa

Divana Massage & Spa is truly an oasis in the midst of the hustle and bustle of Bangkok and the perfect place to rejuvenate after a long day of exploring the city. Located in the Sukhumvit area in Bangkok, the talented spa therapists will ensure that you regain your energy in no time. All rooms are beautifully decorated with warm wooden material while a heavenly scent of orange and citrus relaxes your mind right from the moment you step into your personal treatment room.

Yunomori Onsen

Yunomori opened back in 2012 and was Thailand’s first authentic onsen. The Japanese bathhouse offers its guests to soak and relax in various pools such as a jet bath, a teak pool and of course, an onsen mineral water pool where the water is delivered straight from the thermal springs in Wat Wangkanai. The upper level serves as spa treatment area where you can get body scrubs, traditional Thai massage or Aromatherapy.

Discover inspirational places

Sometimes, all you need is a tranquil and peaceful environment.

Golden Mountain

With its lush greenery, waterfalls and singing birds, one might easily forget that this mountain is right in the middle of Bangkok. Situated on top of the hill is a temple, Wat Saket, that contains an impressive 58m golden chedi and houses a relic from Buddha. It takes about 300 steps to get to the top but you’ll be rewarded with stunning views over Bangkok. It gets busy around sunset, therefore, come in the morning or at noon when only monks are around.

Loha Prasat Temple

Located on the opposite of the above mentioned Golden Mountain, comes this impressive yet neglected 19th-century Royal temple. Literally meaning ‘metal castle’, Loha Prasat reminds one indeed more of a mythical castle than a typical Thai-style temple. The structure contains 37 black metal spires which represent the 37 necessary values to gain enlightenment. Although unique and beautiful, surprisingly, this temple is not very frequented by tourists.

Clear Your Mind

Whether you’re overworked or just had a long and busy holiday behind you, it’s time for some solitude and to reflect your mind.

Lumphini Park

Head over to Lumphini Park in the morning to take a stroll or attend a Tai Chi class. Tai Chi is a martial art that is known for its health benefits like reducing stress and anxiety.

Ride along the Khlongs

Did you know that Bangkok is also nicknamed as Venice of the East? One of the most relaxing ways to explore Bangkok is through its labyrinths of khlongs (canals) and waterways that stretch across the whole city. Take one of the long-tail boats for private hire or join one of the Chao Phraya Express Boats that allow you to see a lot in a short time – you’ll get a glimpse from the partially rural outskirts of Bangkok over colourful floating markets to the hyper-modern city centre where malls and luxury hotels are rising along the banks.

You don’t have to leave the city to find a quiet spot for yourself. After all, Bangkok is a city where you can find nearly everything, even a tranquil oasis in a hectic environment.
