SNAKE TEMPLE - KEK LOK SI TEMPLE - RECLINING BUDDHA TEMPLE - DHAMMIKARAMA BURMESE TEMPLE - TRISHAW RIDE - HAWKER'S DELIGHTS -NIGHT MARKET (1400 HOURS - 2100 HOURS APPROXIMATELY 7 HOURS) •This afternoon, visit the Snake Temple, also know as Temple of Azure Cloud, built in 1850 to the memory of a Buddhist priest, Chor Soo Kong, who was believed to have possessed incredible healing powers. This is the only temple in the world that venomous pit vipers coiled around the altars and others parts of the temple. Kek Lok Si, the Temple of Supreme Bliss, it is one of South East Asia biggest temple. This acclaimed tourist landmark has charmed millions with its pagodas, pavilions, fish ponds, countless buddhas and the towering bronze statue of the Goddess of Mercy (Kuan Yin). Wat Chayamangkalaram or Reclining Buddha Temple, this Buddhist temple of Thai architecture houses a 33m long gold plated reclining Buddha, one of the longest in the world. Dhammikarama Burmese Temple, built in 1803 was the first Buddhist temple in Penang. At the main entrance archway, are vivid paintings depicting importants events in the life of Buddha. Make a brief visit to a local product shop for you to purchase native products such as the famous Penang tau sah peah (bean paste biscuit), belacan (shrimp paste), salted fish and nutmeg products. Then, take a 10 minutes trishaw ride to New Lane Hawkers Centre. Besides the novelty of travelling in this open-fronted three-wheeled vehicle, it's a wonderful way to see some of the heritage sights of Georgetown. An unforgetable experience. Penang famous for it's hawker's delight, you may sample some of its favourite dishes such as asam laksa, char koay teow, hokkien mee, 0-Chien (oyster omelette), chicken rice, ikan bakar (BBQ fish), satay, sup kambing (mutton soup) and array of nyonya foods (meals at own expenses). Then, visit the night market (pasar malam).Batu Ferringhi comes alive every night with the noises of the traders haggling with shoppers. You can buy here anything, from household goods to audio-visual equipments, t-shirts to fashion stuff. . (Note :- If its rains, pasar malam will change o shopping at the Gurney Plaza Shopping Centre). TOUR B PINANG PERANAKAN MANSION - P. RAMLEE HOUSE - FORT CORNWALIS - TRISHAW RIDE - HAWKER'S DELIGHTS - NIGHT MARKET (1400 HOURS - 2100 HOURS APPROXIMATELY 7 HOURS) The Peranakans, also known as Babas and Nyonyas, was a prominent community of acculturated Chinese unique to this part of the world, especially in the Straits Settlements (Penang, Malacca and Singapore), hence its other name, the Straits Chinese. At the Pinang Peranakan Mansion, the typical home of a rich Baba of a century ago is recreated to offer glimpse of their opulent lifestyle and of their many customs and traditions. With over 1000 pieces of antiques and collectibles of the era on display. Then, visit the modest kampung house of the great Malay artiste P. Ramlee. There are photographs chronicling his years in the Malay film industry as an actor, singer, director, producer and of his early life in Penang where he grew up. Fort Cornwalis is the site where Sir Francis Light first landed in 1786. Initially the fortress comprised a wooded structure till 1804, when it was reconstructed with bricks using convit labour. Today, structures inside the fort that have survived the test of time include the Christian chapel, a gunpowder magazine, cell rooms, flagstaff, harbour lights and several cannons.
