Today, discover the historical significance of Ballarat – in its centre the lush tree-lined streets are filled with grand homes of Victorian era, many the result of prosperity from the gold fields of 1850s. Today, visit the Ballarat Wildlife Park, where you’ll see a truly unique selection of wildlife up close, in their natural habitats. You’ll see saltwater and freshwater crocodiles, Tasmanian Devils, kangaroos, wombats, koalas, echidnas and so many more. Next, proceed to Sovereign Hill for Gold Mountain Tour. At here you’ll be placed in time to great gold rush era of the 1850s. It’s just like stepping into a working town of the time, with period-style homes, shops and retails, blacksmiths, hotel and costumed characters that bring the exhibition to life. One of the many fun things you can do at here is Gold Panning. There are diggers on hand to show you the tricks and techniques used to strike it rich and then you can try your work. Thereafter, visit a Souvenir Shop on the way transfer back to Melbourne.
