TAICHUNG – CHIAYI

After breakfast, head south to Chiayi. First, visit Hinoki Village. View this artfully landscaped Cypress Forest Life Village which comprises over 100-year-old historic wooden buildings made from cypress wood. Cypress Forest Life Village also promotes healthy living and well-being to visitors. Stroll among the cypress wood buildings which used to be the dormitories of Japanese officials to learn more about the forestry development of Taiwan. You may buy some unique local handicrafts to bring home as souvenir. Next, proceed to the nearby Alishan Forest Railway Garage Park to learn more about the different types of Alishan Railway trains and infrastructure. Rail enthusiasts can look forward to exploring the depot of Alishan Mini Trains where there are an automated garage, a repair workshop, historic steam train exhibition and more. After visiting the Tea Specialty Store, explore Chiayi Night Market to experience Taiwan’s unique night market culture of eating and buying.

CHIAYI – PENGHU

Today is the highlight of this tour. Go on board a speedboat from Chiayi’s Budai Port to Penghu, also known as “Ju Island” (90 minutes of travel). Upon arrival in Penghu’s Magong, head first to Penghu Visitor’s Centre to learn more about the history and cultural development of Penghu. Thereafter, embark on Penghu’s north-western islands hopping tour. After viewing the famous Great Bridge that stretches across the sea, head to Tong Liang Ancient Banyan Tree where there is an over 300-year-old ancient Banyan tree with 95 live roots. The ancient Banyan tree is still growing strong till today providing the largest tree shade in Penghu. After which, visit the giant windmill which is Penghu’s most important wind farm and a popular photography spot. Continue to Penghu’s most well conserved village, the Erkan Ancient Residence Alley. There are many nostalgic sites like a traditional provision shop, Penghu snacks and a series of over hundred-year-old Southern Min style buildings. Besides, view the over 1000-year old spectacular Daguoye Columnar Basalt formed by the lava that flowed into the sea after the volcano eruption. Then go to the Duty Free Shop before returning back to the hotel to rest. After resting, explore Zhong Zhen Road on foot. This evening, view the spectacular and dazzling display of aerial fireworks over Penghu sea, lighting up the star-embellished night sky of Penghu Bay in summer.

Penghu Fireworks Festival will start at 9pm, lasting 15 minutes. If the weather is adverse, the fireworks festival will be cancelled without prior notice.

PENGHU

After breakfast, board a speedboat and embark on a romantic southern sea island-hopping journey. Begin your visit to Tong Peng Island and view the world’s rare phenomenon sights of basalt columns like Xuan Wu Cliff and Lotus Seat scattered across Penghu. Thereafter, continue to Hu Jing Island which is near to the south of Tong Peng. Thereafter, head to Wangan Island, which is known as “Ba Zhao” and is home to Penghu’s famous produce, Aragonite. Next, proceed to Qimei Island, the most southern island among the cluster of Penghu’s islands. It is renowned for its popular attractions like the Tomb of the Seven Beauties, and Double Heart Stone Weir.

PENGHU – CHIAYI – TAICHUNG

This morning, proceed to the Marine Leisure Farm where you can participate in activities that cater to the young and old like experiencing the joy of feeding cobia fish, fishing squids and feasting on self-served charcoal-grilled fresh oysters at all you can eat style. After which, embark on a leisurely Magong city tour on foot, where you will visit the former residence of Taiwanese singer Pan Anbang who sang the popular song, “Grandma's Penghu Bay”. It is now an important cultural heritage in Taoyuan Military Dependents’ Village cultural zone. After visiting the late Taiwanese singer and producer Chang Yu-Sheng’s former residence, head to the oldest Mazu Temple in Taiwan, also known as Tienhou Temple. Besides being Taiwan’s top historic monument, many devotees also flock to the temple to seek blessings. Stroll along the Central City Old Street to learn more about the folk culture of Penghu. After the city tour, board the speedboat to return to Chiayi’s Budai Port. This evening, head to Fengjia Night Market, the largest night market in central Taiwan where you can savour a variety of delectable snacks and buy the latest fashion. As it is near Fengjia University, the night market offers a wide array of trendy products at great value, making the visit an unforgettable one!

TAICHUNG – TAIPEI

After breakfast, proceed to the vibrant city of Taipei. After visiting the cosmetics store, head to Taipei 101 to indulge in shopping fun. Thereafter, visit the Lingzhi Specialty Centre and Pineapple Pastry Shop. After which, continue to Four-four South Village, a military village located in Taipei’s city centre to reminisce its yester years. This evening, explore Shihlin Night Market, one of the most popular night markets in Taipei, to savour a variety of local snacks.
