| DAY 1 |
ARRIVAL – KUCHING – SANTUBONG WILDLIFE CRUISE
Upon arrival at Kuching, the capital city of Sarawak and meet our representative and transfer to hotel by seat-in-coach. Later that afternoon, embark on exciting Santubong Wildlife Cruise which takes you along the rivers of the Santubong Peninsular, offering you a chance to see some of Sarawak’s fascinating wildlife. The cruise criss-crosses the mouth of the Santubong River where the rare Irrawaddy dolphins are often be seen swimming and diving. Your boat then cruises along the mangrove river banks in search of the big nose Proboscis monkeys. As dusk falls, we will watch the fire-flies moving among the branches of the mangroves and we might even see crocodiles, which can be easily spotted using powerful torches which reflect their eye shine.
Note: Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed, however our local tour operator do enjoy a high success rate and the tour do not operate during rainy weather. For late arrivals, the Santubong Wildlife Cruise will be conducted on the 3rd day of the tour. |
| DAY 2 |
KUCHING – SEMENGGOH WILDLIFE CENTRE – ANNAH RAIS LONGHOUSE
After breakfast at hotel, early pick up at 8am for a 30 minute ride to Semenggoh Wildlife Centre, approximately 24km from Kuching to experience a rare opportunity to enjoy close encounters with semi-wild orang utans. These animals have been rescued from captivity and rehabilitated to survive and live off the surrounding forest reserve. They are now roaming freely in the rainforest and often return to the centre at feeding time (8.30 am to 9.30 am), when they hear the warden calling them. Then, take a scenic 30 minute drive passing through lush green countryside dotted with paddy fields, pepper gardens and rubber plantations and flanked by jungle-clad mountains before arriving at the Bidayuh Longhouse, Annah Rais, which was built about 200 years ago. It is the nearest longhouse easily accessible by road, still maintaining its unique architecture and charm. However, it is relatively modern with basic amenities. The Bidayuh or Land Dayaks are very warm and gentle people, well known for their hospitality and are reputed to be the best makers of tuak or rice wine.
