DAY 2
MUMBAI / AURANGABAD
Mumbai
Drive pass City Tour
Clock Tower, High Court, Victoria Terminus, Crawford Market, Haji Ali Mosque, Dhobi Ghat.
Visit : Hanging Gardens & Tower of Silence
Hanging Gardens and the Kamala Nehru Park both provide relaxing atmospheres of greenery. Besides the Hanging Gardens is the Parsi Tower of Silence. But these are off limits to all except those who have come to dispose and pay respect to the dead.
Visit : Gateway of India
Mumbai’s most striking monument. It was built to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to India in 1911. Behind it is the beautiful old (and new) structure of the Taj Mahal Hotel.
Domestic flight to Aurangabad
Meals: BREAKFAST / LUNCH / DINNER
DAY 3
AURANGABAD
Visit : Ellora Caves
The Ellora Caves not only bear witness to 3 great religions (Buddhism, Brahminism and Jainism) but they also illustrate the spirit of tolerance, characteristic of ancient India, which permitted these 3 religions to establish their sanctuaries and their communities in a single place, which thus served to reinforce its universal value. The caves, with their uninterrupted sequence from 600 to 1,000 monuments, bring to life again the civilization of ancient India.
Visit : Daulatabad Fort
Daulatabad fort was one of the most powerful forts of the medieval Deccan. The defense system that made Daulatabad virtually impregnable comprises fortifications with double and even triple rows of massive walls. In addition, there are ingeniously built mazes with a complex arrangement of entryways and deep rock-cut moats and trenches which can be crossed only at one point, over a drawbridge.
Meals: BREAKFAST / LUNCH / DINNER
DAY 4
AURANGABAD
Visit : Ajanta Caves
30 spellbinding Buddhist prayer halls and monasteries carved, as if by sorcery, into a horseshoe-shaped rock face in a mountainous region of India’s Maharashtra state, 450km east of Mumbai, were ‘discovered’ by accident in 1819 after being abandoned for 1,400 years.
Visit : Bibi-ka-Maqbara
Bibi Ka Maqbara draws its inspiration from the famous Taj Mahal of Agra built by none other than Prince Azam Shah’s grandfather, Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. Azam Shah intended to build a monument that would rival the Taj Mahal. Unfortunately, he lacked the treasury his grandfather had access to, as well as the skilled labour the treasury bought, resulting in a poor copy of the latter.
Meals: BREAKFAST / LUNCH / DINNER
DAY 5
AURANGABAD / MUMBAI
Catch an early flight back to Mumbai
Shop : MG Road, Colaba Area
Shopping in Colaba caters to every budget, style and taste. At one end of the scale there are fashionable boutiques, which have sprouted up in the century-old buildings of the Raj. They don't tend to open until about 11, and some of them, like Bungalow Eight, can be hard to find. But the rewards are ample: exquisitely made kaftans, home furnishings and gifts.
Visit : Chowpatty Beach
The evenings at the Chowpatty Beach is similar to a colourful carnival with all kinds of attractions right from snake charmers, different rides for children including of merry-go-rounds and ferry wheels, to pony rides, monkey shows and so on. You will even find astrologers, artists, and gymnasts trying to earn some money through their activities.
Transfer to the airport for your flight home
