DELHI → VARANASI
* Fly to Varanasi
VARANASI - The most sacred place for all Hindus * Visit : River Ganges (with boat ride) Take a short rickshaw ride up to the River Ganges where you will witness the evening Aarti. Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner

VARANASI → SARNATH → BODHGAYA
* Visit : River Ganges
Take a boat ride on the Ganges at sunrise to witness the procession of life as pilgrims and devotees perform their rituals amidst the ringing bells from the countless temples. * Return to your hotel for your breakfast * Drive to Sarnath SARNATH - Where Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon to his 5 disciples * Visit : Ruins of Sarnath / Archaeological Museum The place where Lord Buddha preached his first sermon in the Deer Park * Continue the drive to Bodhgaya, the place where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment. Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner

BODHGAYA
BODHGAYA - Site of Lord Buddha’s Enlightenment
* Visit : Mahabohi Temple Mahabodhi Temple is the focal point of Bodhgaya. It marks the spot where Buddha gained enlightenment and set out on his life of preaching. It stands adjacent to a descendent of the original Bodhi tree under which Buddha meditated on the excesses of life and formulated his philosophy of a balanced approach to it. * Visit : Great Buddha Statue / Drive Pass : Various Monasteries and Temples Monasteries - most countries with a large Buddhist population have a temple or a monastery in Bodhgaya usually built in a representative architectural style. Thus, there is a Thai Temple that looks very much like the colorful wats of Thailand. There is a Tibetan Temple and monastery that contains a large prayer wheel. The Burmese who had led a campaign to restore the Mahabodhi Temple in the 19th century also built their monastery. There is a Japanese temple (Indosan Nipponji) that has a very beautiful image of Buddha brought from Japan. There are also Chinese, Sri Lankan, Bhutanese, Vietnamese, Nepalese, Korean, Taiwanese and Bangladeshi monasteries. There is also a Tai Bodhi Khan Monastery built by Buddhist tribes from Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner

BODHGAYA → RAJGIR → NALANDA → PATNA
* Drive 3 hours to Rajgir
RAJGIR * Visit : Japanese World Peace Stupa Take a chair lift up the hill to the Japanese World Peace Stupa * Visit : Vulture Peak (40 - 50mins walk) The place where Lord Buddha mediated for couple of years. NALANDA - Site of the great monastic university * Visit : Ruins of the World Ancient University The most renowned University in ancient India. Nalanda is one of the greatest centres of learning in the ancient times. * Drive 3 hours to Patna Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner

DAY 6

PATNA → KUSHINAGAR
KUSHINAGAR - Where Buddha enter Mahaparinirvana
* Visit : Mahaparinirvana Temple Located in the ruins which various ancient monasteries were found during the 5th century AD. The temple is famous for its 6.10m long statue of Lord Buddha. According to the inscriptions in the ruins, the remains of Lord Buddha have been deposited here. * Visit : Rambhar Stupa Ramabhar Stupa marks the place where Lord Buddha received the Mahaparinirvana or the Final Enlightenment. KUSHINAGAR → LUMBINI
* Drive 4 hours to Lumbini crossing the border into Nepal
LUMBINI - Birth place of Lord Buddha * Visit : Maya Devi Temple / Sacred Tank It was in Lumbini, where Queen Mahamaya gave birth to Prince Siddhartha who later became Lord Buddha. It is the place where the Mayadevi Temple and the Sacred Tank exist. LUMBINI → KAPILAVASTU → SRAVASTI
KAPILAVASTU - Hometown of Lord Buddha
* Visit : Ruins of the Ancient Capital According to Buddhist tradition, Kapilavastu is the name of the ancient city where Lord Buddha was raised and lived until the age of 29, when he renounced worldly life. SRAVASTI - Teachings in the Jetavana Grove * Visit : Jetavana Gardens According to legend, it is here where Buddha confounded his critics by making them witness a miraculous million-fold self-manifestation seated on a thousand-petalled lotus, as fire and water emanated from his body.
