DAY 1
Wednesday: Arrival at Taipei
Upon arrival at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, there will be a transfer provided to your hotel. The rest of the day will be free and easy.
DAY 2
Thursday: Taipei – Jing Tong Old Street – Shenkeng Tofu Street – Fengjia Night Market (Breakfast)
Today, you will leave Taoyuan for Taipei. The tour kicks off at Jing Tong Old Street, a little town whose name derived from the ‘Jingtong’ trees which reigned the once bustling coal town. Here, visitors may wish to send off blessings (own expense) on sky lanterns before going for lunch (own expense). Subsequently, you will head to the ‘tofu capital’ of Taiwan to grab a bite of some authentic stinky tofu. Fret not, if you are not a fan of the pungent smell, you may feast on other delectable variants including the boiled spicy tofu, barbequed tofu, tofu cake, sweet tofu drink and even the tofu ice-cream which encompasses Shenkeng’s signature burnt flavour! Also, don’t forget to bring home a jar of fermented tofu and fresh black sesame paste for your loved ones back at home! The excitement continues through the night at Fengjia Night Market, the biggest, most popular, and most interesting night market in Taiwan. Be it freshly cooked food, refreshing bubble teas, super tall ice-creams, trendy fashion apparels or accessories, you name it, they have it!
DAY 3
Taichung – Nantou – Cingjing Skywalk – Anping Old Street (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
Today, you will depart for Cingjing in Nantou. Known as a “Foggy Eden” for its far cry away from the city area and in the mountains, Cingjing is the ideal getaway for those longing for fresh air, lush forests, acres of flowers along the plains and hillsides, as well as beautiful starry nights. Firstly, you will take a leisure stroll on the 1.2km-long and approximately 2000m high Cingjing Skywalk. The floating platform boasts six lookout points, allowing visitors to witness the magnificent mountain views and Cingjing Farm below. Next, you will proceed to Tai-Yi Leisure Farm where you may wish to participate in a seasonal fruit-picking session (own expense). You will then move on to Tainan to explore the Anping Old Street, otherwise known as Taiwan’s 1st Street. Anping Old Street is lined with traditional rammed earth houses, low brick houses as well as Western mansions which allows visitors to discover the unseen beauties and learn the stories behind these preserved buildings and streets. In addition, the street also houses little shops and food stalls that cover a full range of souvenirs and handmade products of different prices. Dinner will be a seafood or lobster feast (subject to availability).
DAY 4
Tainan – Kaohsiung – Pearl Centre – Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
The next leg of your journey begins with Taiwan's second-biggest city, Kaohsiung. Kaohsiung is a fascinating mishmash of Buddhist ethics, outlandish nature and surprising art. After visiting the luxurious Pearl Centre, you will move on to the Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum. Not only is it a place of worship, it is also a great place for visitors to learn more about Buddhism and its ties to Taiwanese culture. Even if you are not a religious person, the beautiful architecture of the temples and statues will most definitely impress you. En-route back to the hotel, you will pass through the South Link Highway where you will get the opportunity to the famed ‘Water Running Uphill’ attraction.
DAY 5
Taitung – Hualien – Taroko National Park – Eternal Spring Shrine (Breakfast/Lunch)
In the day, you will explore the island's mountainous east coast, Hualien. This will begin with a tour at Taroko National Park, one of Taiwan’s most beautiful sights. The landmark gorge is formed by the erosive power of gushing river waters cutting through the marble and granite to create a beautiful, narrow ravine with waterfalls and patches of mist clinging to the mountainous forests. Besides the gorge, you will also visit other attractions such as the Eternal Spring Shrine or Changchun Shrine which was built to commemorate the 212 heroes who died during the construction of the Central Cross-Island Highway. Thereafter, you will leave for the Lingzhi Tea Hall before heading to Yilan to tour Jiaoxi Street.
DAY 6
Jiaoxi Street – Pineapple Dream Factory – Jiufen Old Street – Ximending (Breakfast/Dinner)
Today, you will make a detour back to Taipei via the Hsuehshan Tunnel, also titled the longest tunnel in Taiwan. Then, tour at the Pineapple Dream Factory where you will be brought to a room to master the secret know-hows of making Taiwan’s most famous pastry! Thereafter, you will be transferred to Jiufen Old Street to catch a glimpse of the setting of Hayao Miyazaki's Academy Award winning “Spirited Away” and its iconic red lanterns. Among the many treats and souvenirs to be enjoyed, be sure to try the chewy taro, sweet potato balls and fish balls that Jiufen is widely acclaimed for! This will be followed by a trip to Tienlu Handicraft Centre. The last destination to tick off your bucket list is Ximending. Besides being the host of an array of fashionables, eclectic restaurants, clubs, and bars, the ‘Harajuku’ of Taipei also has spectacular sightings such as a whole street of cinemas or graffiti-painted walls which is most definitely worth a visit!
DAY 7
Depart from Taipei (Breakfast)
Today, after breakfast, you will have some leisure time before your transfer back to the airport for your flight back to Singapore.
