SINGAPORE - BUCHAREST
Assemble at Singapore Changi Airport for your flight to Bucharest - Romania.
DAY 2
BUCHAREST (DINNER)
Bun venit in Romania (Welcome to Romania!) and welcome to Bucharest Capital City of Romania - Little Paris of the East! Be greeted by our local representative and transfer to your hotel to check in. Bucharest is also known as “Little Paris of the East” because of its wide boulevards, French-style buildings, many parks and gardens and, of course, because of the Arch of Triumph. En-route you will see the Unifi Square, the University Square, the Roman Square and the Victory Square. At the Constitution Square you can admire the Palace of the Parliament, the second largest administrative building in the world after the Pentagon.
DAY 3
BUCHAREST - SIBIU (BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER)
This morning start your day with a visit to the Palace of the Parliament - the second largest administrative building in the world after the Pentagon. Commissioned by the dictator Nicolae Ceausescu and named by him, The People’s House, The Palace of the Parliament is the largest administrative building in the world for civilian use, and also the heaviest building in the world, featuring 12 stories and 1,100 rooms aside from its nuclear bunker. Constructed almost entirely of materials of Romanian origin, the palace displays the true wealth of Romania: stone, marble and wood from the Romanian mountains and forests. Afterwards you will travel towards Transylvania, the most famous region Romania's. You stop shortly at the Cozia Monastery, built in the 14th century, where you visit one of the most valuable monuments of medieval art and architecture in Romania. In the afternoon you will arrive in Sibiu, which in 2007 was name “The European Cultural Capital” and probably the most beautiful Transylvanian medieval town.
DAY 4
SIBIU (BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER)
Sibiu was settled by the German Saxons in the 12th century and preserved until nowadays its wonderful Old Town with colourful houses, large squares and lots of legends. During your walking tour of the Large Square, you can admire the Catholic Church and the Brukenthal Palace. Then you continue with the Small Square, the Liar's Bridge and the Huet Square. Enjoy some time at leisure in the Old Town and explore the local shops, libraries, cafes and street performances. In the evening enjoy dinner at a local restaurant with traditional cuisine.
DAY 5
SIBIU - BIERTAN - SIGHISOARA - TARGU MURES (BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER)
After breakfast you head towards the small and idyllic Transylvanian village Biertan. Here you visit the largest fortified church of the almost 300 fortified churches built in Transylvania between the 15th and 16th century. Due its important historical and architectural value, the church of Biertan is listed by UNESCO as World Heritage Site. At noon you arrive in Sighisoara, a small town founded by the Transylvanian Saxon in the 12th century. The medieval fortress with nine towers, cobbled streets, colorful houses is still inhabited and was designated as World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The walking tour starts with a visit at the Clock Tower, which is the landmark of Sighisoara. Then you can see the birthplace of count Dracula and the Church on the Hill.
DAY 6
TARGU MURES - BISTRITA - SUCEAVA (BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER)
Discover today one of the most interesting towns in Transylvania - Targu Mures - a mix of Romanian, German and Hungarian cultures. During the city tour you can admire the city's landmarks such as the Apollo Palace built in Baroque style, the Old Prefecture building from the 18th century, The Teleki Library and the Orthodox Cathedral, which houses the largest painted area in an orthodox church in Romania. You travel then towards Bucovina, crossing the Carpathian Mountains over Tihuta Pass. Bucovina is famous for the painted monasteries built in the Middle Ages by mighty Romanian rulers. Visit one of the most representatives Romanian orthodox monasteries, the Moldovita Monastery. Dating back to the 16th centuries, the monastery from Moldovita, presents wonderful gold and deep blue paintings and large frescoes such as the Siege of Constantinople. Continue to Suceava arriving on time for dinner with folklore show.
DAY 7
SUCEAVA - PIATRA NEAMT (BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER)
Visit the most famous Romanian monastery - The Voronet Monastery which was built at the end of the 15th century by Stephan the Great and it is worldwide known as Sistine Chapel of the East due to its stunning interior and exterior paintings featuring an intense blue color, known also as Voronet Blue. Next, visit the Agapia monastery, one of the largest convents in Europe. Admire paintings by one of the greatest Romanian painters, Nicolae Grigorescu and visit the Museum with valuable icons, carpets and wooden crosses.
DAY 8
PIATRA NEAMT - BICAZ CANYON - PREJMER - BRASOV (BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER)
Enjoy a scenic ride through the Moldavian countryside and then along the Bicaz Canyon with its spectacular road through the rocks. You make a short stop at the Red Lake, a very picturesque natural barrier lake. Your journey continues back to Transylvania, to the small village Prejmer, where you visit the Prejmer fortified church. Built by the Teutonic knights in the early 13th century, the fortified church was listed by UNESCO as World Heritage Site. Inside the fortification one can find 272 rooms, one for each village family, a church completed in 1225 and a school. In the afternoon you visit the well preserved old town of Brasov, where you will get to know the historical and cultural attractions such as the Council Square, the Nicholas Church, the Black Church and the Brasov Fortress.
DAY 9
BRASOV - BRAN - SINAIA - BUCHAREST (BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER)
After breakfast, you drive to Bran, a small village near Brasov, where you visit the famous Dracula Castle. The castle was built at the end of the 14th century by the Transylvanian Saxons and has served as customs between Transylvania and Wallachia for many centuries. There are legends and stories that Dracula used to live here. The truth can be discovered only during the inside tour. Another castle not to be missed when in Romania and probably of the most beautiful castles in Europe is the Peles Castle. This masterpiece of German and new-Renaissance architecture was built at the end of the 19th century and served as summer residence for the royal family until 1947. The interiors are spectacular, presenting the finest examples of European art, Murano crystal chandeliers, valuable paintings and furniture. End your day with a visit to the Sinaia monastery. Tonight, enjoy a traditional Romanian dinner with folklore performances.
DAY 10
BUCHAREST - SINGAPORE (BREAKFAST)
After breakfast, free at leisure for you to explore the city or some last minute shopping before you transfer to the airport for your fight home.
