The town of Madaba was once a Moabite border city, mentioned in the Bible in Numbers 21:30 and Joshua 13:9. This lovely town is home to St. George's Church which Houses a 6th century Byzantine Mosaic Map, Showing ancient Palestine, Egypt, Jerusalem and other holy sites. Continue to Mount Nebo is the most revered site in Jordan with the memorial of Moses at the presumed site of the prophet's death and burial place, is an elevated ridge that is approximately 817 meters (2680 feet) above sea level. The view from the summit provides a panorama of the Holy Land and, to the north, a more limited one of the valley of the River Jordan. The West Bank city of Jericho is usually visible from the summit, as is Jerusalem on a very clear day, according to ancient tradition; this is the mountain from which Moses saw the Promised Land before he died. Because of its connection to Moses, Mt. Nebo has long been an important place of Christian pilgrimage. Kerak an ancient Crusader stronghold, sits 900m above sea level, built on a triangular plateau, with the castle at its narrow southern tip. While the castle we see today dates back to the 12th century, Kerak has been a fortress since biblical times. The Bible relates how the King of Israel and his allies from Judah and Edom ravaged Moab and besieged its king Mesha in the fortress of Kir Heres, as Karak was then known. Centuries later, it took the Crusaders some twenty years to erect their vast castle. Once finished in 1161, it became the residence of the lord of Transjordan, by then the most important fief of the Crusader kingdom, rich in produce and tax revenues.

The Roman Forum and the Roman theatre is the largest theatre in Jordan with room for 6,000 spectators.
