SINGAPORE – TROMSO

Depart Singapore Changi Airport for your flight to Tromso, a city in Norway famed as a viewing point for colourful Northern Lights.

TROMSO

Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure exploring the vibrant coastal city of Tromso, surrounded by mountains, fjords and islands. During winter, the city is often blessed with outstanding displays of the aurora borealis.

TROMSO – LONGYEARBYEN

This afternoon, depart Tromso on a domestic flight to Longyearbyen, where the Polar winter will give you exceptional chances of seeing the natural fireworks of the Arctic. Located just 800 miles from the North Pole, Spitsbergen is the largest of the Svalbard Islands. It is the only place on the earth where you can experience the northern lights in the day.

LONGYEARBYEN

Today, join an Arctic Dog Sledding tour. The Polar Night is a particularly atmospheric time of the year, and dog sledding under starry skies, dancing aurora or glittering moonlight is an experience definitely not-to-be-missed. Head out to the kennel in the majestic Adventdalen and enjoy a rendezvous with your new four-legged friends. The guides will demonstrate how to prepare a dog team and assist you while you work in pairs to prepare for a run with six strong huskies. The snow covered landscape reflects light from the moon, stars and, if you are lucky, the northern lights – and it is astonishing to note just how much you can see during this magical period. In the evening, go on a Northern Lights Safari by Snowcat. You won`t miss the big red snowcat when it arrives to pick you up. As you experience being in the dark in the Arctic, the guides will explain how aurora is formed. They will also share stories about the area as you enjoy hot drinks with your eyes to the sky.
Note:
In the event of unforeseen poor snow conditions, dog sledding will be on wheels instead of sleds. The Northern Lights is a natural phenomenon and sighting is subject to weather conditions.

LONGYEARBYEN

Today, spend the day at leisure. You may wish to go on an optional Ice Cave Hike to Larsbreen, at your own expense. From the big Longyear glacier right outside town, make a descent into the ice and enter a fascinating cave. Equipped with a headlamp, walk along the passages formed by the melted water under the glacier and be fascinated by the natural formations of ice and stones. If you are feeling adventurous, you may wish to take part in an optional Northern Lights Safari on Snowmobile.

Please wear comfortable hiking shoes for the ice cave hike.

LONGYEARBYEN - TROMSO

Today, return to Tromso, where you can spend the rest of the day at leisure. If time permits, you may wish to visit the Polar Museum at your own expense. The Polar Museum is one of Norway’s top ten museums featuring exciting information about Arctic hunting and Polar explorers. Alternatively, you may also visit the Polaria for an informative Arctic Experience at your own expense. Catch a glimpse of the bearded seals, an arctic species which are popular due to their quiet disposition and intelligent nature.

TROMSO

Today, go on an unforgettable Reindeer Safari to experience Reindeer Sledding and Sami culture near Tromso. Visit a Sami camp to learn more about reindeer sledding which is the oldest form of transportation in the North, lasso throwing, and how the Sami live and their lifestyle. Huddle and cozy around a camp fire while enjoying some hot drinks. In the evening, go on a Northern Lights Hunting tour. Being in the middle of the northern lights belt, Tromso offers some of the highest levels of northern lights activity on earth. Be prepared for an intense and exciting chase – to the coast or deep into the wild, perhaps even to the Finnish border! The search for Aurora Borealis will bring you to some of the most staggering landscapes in the Arctic as you aspire to crown your Northern Lights Trip with a sight to remember forever.

This is among the wildest and most beautiful experiences in nature. This trip is a real and grounded experience, as well as it could make you feel weightless. The extreme combination of mountain and sea is second to none. A lot of short and long stops will be made and you can experience wild nature, local culture and view charming small towns. At times, you may cross paths with wild animals and even see or hear whales.

If time permits, you can do some last-minute shopping before you transfer to your airport for your flight home.
