ARRIVAL KUCHING - SANTUBONG WILDLIFE CRUISE

Meet and greet at airport by your tour representative, who will hold a welcome board with your name > Transfer to check in to your selected hotel > Later in the afternoon, embark on the exciting Santubong Wildlife Cruise which takes you along the rivers of the Santubong Peninsula, offering you a chance to see some of Sarawak’s fascinating wildlife. The cruise crisscrosses the mouth of the Santubong River where the rare Irrawaddy dolphins can often be seen swimming and diving. Your boat then cruises along the mangrove river banks in search of the big-nosed Proboscis monkeys, often seen in the treetops at the water’s edge where they settle down for the night. As dusk falls, we will watch the fire-flies moving amongst the branches of the mangroves and we might even see crocodies, which can be easily spotted using powerful torches which reflect their eye shine. ( Note: Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed, however, our local tour operator does enjoy a high success rate. The tour does not operate during rainy weather.) * For late arrivals, the Santubong Wildlife Cruise will be conducted on the 3rd day of the tour.

SEMENGGOH WILDLIFE CENTRE - ANAH RAIS LONGHOUSE (B/L)

Breakfast at hotel > Early pick up at 8 am for a 30-minute ride to Semenggoh Wildlife Centre, approximately 24 km from Kuching, to experience a rare opportunity to enjoy close encounters with semi-wild orang utans. These animals have been rescued from captivity and rehabilitated to survive and live off the surrounding forest reserve. They now roam freely in the rainforest and often return to the centre at feeding time (8.30am to 9.30am), when they hear the warden calling them. > Then, take a scenic 45-minute drive, passing through lush green countryside dotted with padi fields, pepper gardens and rubber plantations and flanked by jungle-clad mountains, before arriving at the Bidayuh longhouse , Annah Rais which was built about 200 years ago. It is the nearest longhouse easily accessible by road, still maintaining its unique architecture and charm. However, it is relatively modern with basic amenities. The Bidayuh or Land Dayaks are very warm and gentle people, well known for their hospitality and are reputed to be the best makers of tuak or rice wine. > Local Lunch > Transfer back to hotel

Free day for you to explore the main streets of Kuching city, where you can view historical buildings built during the White Rajah’s era or visit the world-famous Sarawak Museum (all within walking distance from your city hotel).
