Taiyuan - Datong - Yungang Grottoes

Datong is one of the northern cities in Shanxi. It is one of the 24 historical and cultural cities in China, neighboring Hebei Province to the east and Inner Mongolian to the north. Datong is also an important northern transportation hub in China. Today visit Yungang Grottoes(battery-powered car included). It is a treasure trove of Buddhist carvings unrivaled in the world with a variety of more than 51,000 statues. Yungang Grottoes, together with Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang and Dunhuang Grottoes in Gansu, are considered as the Three Greatest Buddha Grottoes in China. Next visit Nine Dragon Screen.

Datong - Hohhot - Grassland

After breakfast, proceed to the Grassland by coach. Upon arrival, you will savor local lunch while experience the hospitality and honesty of Mongolian people. Next enjoy Mongoliantraditional activities including the Mongolian Wrestling and Horse-racing Performance etc. In July or August when the pastures there have plenty of water, lush grass and thriving herds, which is the best season of the year, you may have chance to view Nadamu Festival*. Today pay a visit to the nomadic families where you will be treated with their homemade Milk Tea and other snacks. You may also enjoy horse-riding or take a lele car ride and view Aobao at own expense. The most important use of Aobao which means a stone heap is for sacrifice. People always sacrifice the best corn, meet, fruit and alcohol to Aobao and pray for good weather, good harvest and good fortune. Taste the Mongolian-style flavor “Hand-grabbing Mutton” for dinner. In the evening, why not indulge yourself in the Mongolian Singing & Dance performance at the Campfire Party.

Grassland - Kubuqi Desert - Ordos

View the fantastic sunrise on grassland. Then depart for the famous Kubuqi Desert(cable car included). Upon arrival, visit the Sounding Sand Bay which is located on the northern fringe of the Ordos Kubuqi Desert in the Dalaid Banner. When people are sliding down the slope from the top, the sand under them produces a rumbling sound. You have opportunity to experience camel ride or other activities on the desert at own expenses. In the afternoon, continue your journey to Ordos.

Ordos - Hohhot

Morning proceed to the Mausoleum of Genghis Khan. This Mausoleum is composed of three yurt-style buildings with glazed tiles. Genghis Khan was considered as true hero by Mongolian people. Next depart for Hohhot and get to know the technological process of making handicrafts in a Mongolian Handicrafts Gallery. Thereafter visit the well-known Dazhao Monastery, the only imperial temple in Inner Mongolia.

Hohhot - Datong

Hohhot is the capital city of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The city’s name comes from the Mongolian word for “green city”. It is the region's political, economic, culture and transport centre. Today visit the Tomb of Wang Zhaojun, one of the four beauties in ancient China. Her tomb is also called “Green Grave Holding a Beauty”. Next visit Inner Mongolia Museum in which the hugest dinosaur fossil in Asia is kept. After that, coach to Datong. En route you may view the ancient Great Wall from far.

After breakfast, enjoy your coach journey to Taiyuan- capital of landlocked Shanxi province and one of china's key heavy industry centers in North China. Next proceed to the Coal Museum of China in whichyou can board a small train toexperience a journey to a coal well and learn the whole process of coal mining.
