DAY 2
SIEM REAP
This morning, visit the South Gate of Angkor Thom (Great Angkor or Great City). Angkor Thom is a 3km walled and moated royal city and was the last capital of the Angkorian Empire. After Jayavaman VII recaptured the Angkorian capital from the Cham invaders in 1181, he began a massive building campaign across the empire, constructing Angkor Thom as his new capital city. The ancient walled city of Angkor Thom contains the famous Bayon Temple with its more than 200 enormous, mysterious similing faces. Next, visit to the Terrace of the Elephants. Impressive, two and half-meter tall wall spanning the heart of Angkor Thom in the front of Baphoun and Phimeanakas. Carved elephants and giant garudas adorn the wall. Then, visit to the Terrace of the Leper King – a double terrace at the north end of the Terrace of the Elephants with deeply carved nagas, demons and other mythological beings. After lunch, visit Angkor Wat – the World Heritage. Angkor Wat, the largest temples in the world, with a volume of stone equaling that of the Cheops pyramid in Egypt. The temples of Angkor, built from 879 - 1191AD, when the Khmer civilization was at the height of its development, represent one of humankind's most astonishing and enduring architectural achievements. In the evening, proceed to watch sunset at Phnom Bakheng.

DAY 3
SIEM REAP
After breakfast, proceed to a little more than 20km north of Angkor, almost at the foot of the Kulen Mountains, sits the remarkable small temple of Banteay Srei. Banteay Srei (“The Citadel of the Women”) – this fabled pink temple of the women, so called because it was made of pink sandstone and considered a tribute to the beauty of women. Its small size, delicate carvings and remarkable state of preservation make Banteay Srei one of everyone’s favourite temples. Next, visit Ta Prohm – a temple in its ‘natural state’. Surround by jungle, its labyrinth of stone hallways is overgrown with the roots and limbs of the massive Banyan trees which envelope the stones like tentacles. After lunch, visit the Roluos Group, which is located 12km southeast of Siem Reap, it’s the first major capital of the Angkorian era Khmer Empire. The three monuments in the Ruluos
Group, offer a look at the earliest definition of Khmer civilization. These temples, Bakong, Lolei and Preah Ko, were built in the 9th century under
Indravarman I.
